An opportunity is a potential sale. It always belongs to a contact; one contact can have several opportunities.
Board and table
The Opportunities section has two views, switched with the icons next to the pipeline name.
The board shows opportunities as cards grouped by stage. Above each column are the number of opportunities and their total amount. To move an opportunity to the next stage, drag its card to another column.
The table is better for sorting, filtering and scanning: amount, priority, source, stage, owner and expected close date.
Creating an opportunity
- Click Create opportunity.
- Enter a name and choose a contact — both are required.
- Add the amount, expected close date, priority and owner.
- Choose the pipeline and the stage the opportunity starts from.
Several pipelines
If the company has more than one sales process (for example, new sales and service), each gets its own pipeline. Pipelines are switched with the tabs next to the page title.
Setting up stages
Stages are set up in Settings → Opportunity Pipelines: name, color, order. Stages that mean a win or a loss get the matching type, which statistics are built on.
What comes next
From the opportunity page you create an estimate, invoice, job and tasks; they stay linked to the opportunity and the contact. See Finance and Jobs.
