How to add customers, work with the contact page and import a list from a file

A contact is a customer, lead, partner or vendor. Everything else is attached to it: opportunities, invoices, tasks, jobs, messages and calls.

Contact list

The Contacts section shows a table of all contacts. Each row shows the type, source, number of open opportunities and tasks, outstanding debt and the owner.

  • Search finds a contact by name, phone or email.
  • Filters narrow the list by type, source, owner and other fields.
  • Type and source can be changed right in the table by clicking the badge in the row.

Creating a contact

  1. Click Create Contact in the top right corner.
  2. Fill in the name — it is the only required field.
  3. Add a phone and an email. + Add Phone and + Add Email let you enter several.
  4. If needed, set the type, source, company and owner.
  5. Save.

A contact is also created automatically when a call or message arrives on a connected channel from an unknown number — see Communication.

Contact page

Clicking a name opens the contact page. On the left are the contact's details and the related opportunities, tasks, invoices and notes. On the right is the conversation with the contact across all channels.

The Create button on the page starts an opportunity, task, job, invoice or estimate for this contact, so you do not have to pick the contact again.

The Brief is a free-form description of the customer: history, agreements, anything specific. Both your team and the AI assistant read it.

Types and sources

Types (client, lead, partner, vendor) and sources (website, referral, advertising) are set up in Settings → Dictionaries. You can add your own values and change colors.

Custom fields

If the standard fields are not enough, add your own in Settings → Custom Fields: text, number, date, list.

Importing from a file

An existing customer list is imported from a CSV file in Settings → Data Management. Contacts are exported there as well.
