What goes wrong, and what we do about it
A grooming salon runs on dogs that come back on a cycle: the doodle every few weeks, the husky when the coat blows in spring and fall. Before the winter holidays every owner wants the same Saturday. With a dog on the table and the dryer roaring nobody hears the phone, the notes on how to cut each dog live on index cards, and an owner who waited too long brings in a matted coat and blames you for the shave-down.
The problem
A doodle comes back matted because nobody rebooked the owner in time.
In Kompot.ai
Keep the date of the last groom and the usual interval as fields on the owner. When the next groom comes due, a scheduled workflow messages them with the booking link, well before the coat has a chance to mat.
The problem
Clipper lengths and cut notes live on index cards, and a new groomer has to guess.
In Kompot.ai
Blade and guard comb, the shape of the ears and tail, and what the owner asked for last time are fields and notes on the record. A photo of the finished groom is attached, so any groomer in the salon can repeat the cut.
The problem
The phone rings while a dog is on the table and the dryer is running.
In Kompot.ai
Calls are recorded and transcribed, and a number you have not seen before becomes a contact. Once the dog is off the table you read what the caller wanted and send a saved reply with your booking page link.
The problem
Owners keep calling to ask whether the dog is ready for pickup.
In Kompot.ai
Each appointment is a job with your stages: checked in, bathed, on the table, ready. When the job moves to ready, a workflow sends the owner a message in their messenger, so the phone stays quiet and the crate empties sooner.
The problem
A matted dog is shaved down and the owner disputes it at pickup.
In Kompot.ai
The matting release is a document template. The owner signs it by QR code at drop-off, and photos of the coat taken before the bath are attached to the job. The signed PDF and the pictures are there if the question comes up.
How one order runs
From a first groom request to a paid pickup
The owner gets in touch
A message with the breed and a photo of the coat creates a contact. You save the breed, coat type and temperament in the fields and quote from your price list.
The groom is booked
The owner picks a free slot on the booking page. You create a job for that time and assign the groomer; the calendar and the job board show which dog is on whose table and when.
Drop-off, bath, haircut
At drop-off the release form is signed. The groomer opens the job, reads the notes on the cut, moves it through the stages and adds a photo.
Pickup and payment
The ready message goes to the owner. The invoice is paid by card through a payment link or at the counter, and the date of this groom is saved for the next reminder.

Where an AI employee steps in for Pet Groomers
The moment
Someone asks on Messenger what a full groom for a standard poodle costs.
The AI employee gives your price range from the knowledge base and explains that the final price depends on the condition of the coat. It saves the breed on a new contact and sends the booking link.
The moment
A call comes in while every groomer has a dog on the table.
The voice agent answers, asks for the breed, when the dog was last groomed and which day suits the owner, and promises a callback. The summary is saved, and a workflow creates a callback task for the salon.
The moment
An owner writes in the afternoon asking whether their dog is done yet.
The AI employee looks up today's job for that owner and answers from its stage: still on the table, or ready for pickup. If it cannot find the job, it passes the question to the salon staff.
Questions owners ask
- Can I keep separate notes for each dog when an owner has several?
- Yes. The owner is one contact, and each dog has its own fields for breed, coat, temperament and cut. Jobs, photos and messages for every dog in the household are on the same page.
- Does it work for a mobile grooming van?
- Yes. Each stop is a job with the owner's address and a time window, and you open it in the phone's browser in the van. Notes and photos are added on the spot, and the invoice is sent with a payment link before you drive off.
- Can I take a deposit for holiday appointments?
- Yes. Send a separate invoice for the deposit with its own payment link when the owner takes a pre-holiday slot. The rest goes on a second invoice, paid when the dog is picked up.
- Can owners book a groom online?
- Yes. The owner opens the public booking page and takes one of the free slots. The booking appears on your calendar; for a new dog, ask for the breed and a photo of the coat in the chat before you confirm the time.
